My name is Dana, and I am a 29 year old mother of three living in Champaign, Illinois. I grew up
in south Louisiana, living the majority of my childhood in the suburbs of New
Orleans.
I can remember sitting at the window in my living room when I was about 9 or 10, drawing the house across the street, or our car in the driveway. Art was always in my life in one form or another.
I have often considered pursuing art in a more professional, career form, but have yet to actually step foot in that direction. I still toy with the idea of continuing my schooling with an art major, perhaps becoming a teacher, but it's still only an idea.
If I were to try to label my art, or put it into a category, it would be quite difficult. I call myself an observational artist; give me enough time, and I can draw pretty much anything I see. My art tends to depict my mood, what's going on in my life at the moment, or just some random spark of inspiration I happen to come across. It's an ever-changing thing, not to be contained into any one particular category.
I have an attraction to faeries, butterflies (I love wings), mermaids, dragons...things that are not of this world, therefore can be interpreted any way that I want. Some of my favorite fantasy artists include Selena Fenech, Amy Brown, David Delamare, Nene Thomas, and Jessica Galbreth. I've also got a soft spot for pin-up art, with quite a few of my favorites coming from Monte Michael Moore and Olivia de Berardinis. I love drawings, paintings, and sculptures that depict the female form, particularly in a fantasy, otherworldly way. Perhaps it is some ever-present childhood fantasy of being a faerie princess, but I can never get enough of it. The female body is beautiful, especially with wings or fins...
I have a page at
Deviant Art, and it is there that I started picking up tutorials, practicing
different techniques, and really discovering the talent that I hadn't done much
with since I was a kid. If you want to check out my Deviant Art page, click here

I have a slight flare for photography, but that is a hobby in which the toys required to play do not come cheap. I recently bought a new camera, and have been practicing quite a bit with it, mostly landscape and nature shots.
Well, that's a little about me, the art side at least. Be sure to check back here often, as I will be adding new drawings and photographs as I create them.
